The front of this pub, which was formerly a cinema built in 1939 and latterly a bingo hall, is deceptive as behind it lies a large pub with two areas on different levels. The front section with its high ceiling is light and airy, while ascent up a few steps leads to the main room and bar counter. This has more subdued lighting although some natural light filters through the rear windows. Famous faces of stars of stage and screen with local connections look out onto proceedings and feature the likes of Leslie Thomas, Johnny Morris, Basil Rathbone and Anthony Hopkins. Also pictured is Godfrey Morgan himself, the 1st Viscount Tredegar, who was a survivor of the ill-fated Charge of the Light Brigade and his kinsman, Captain Henry Morgan, also puts in an appearance. A selection of up to seven well-kept ales are always on, including some more unusual (for Wetherspoons) examples. Note the car park at the rear of the pub is Pay & Display (2 pounds), which is deducted from your first order at the bar.
