Drinkers' paradise in an industrial area, this multi-award winning, traditionally-styled

freehouse has featured in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for more than 30 years. Twenty minutes walk from city centre and close to the bus routes along Thornton Road and Legrams Lane. Its traditional, unpretentious feel appeals to a wide variety of people from loyal locals to well-travelled cask ale enthusiasts. Up to eight cask ales are usually on sale including at least one dark beer. Ciders are offered, including one from hand-pull, and there may also be a perry. Eight keg taps offer a range of beers, European lagers, Guinness and a mass-produced cider. Foreign bottled beers are also stocked. Good value lunches are served Monday to Saturday. The jukebox has an extensive and eclectic choice of music.
