Historic Interest

Eling Boating and Sailing Club was founded in September 1939 but events got in the way of progress and it wasn't until early 1945 that premises were acquired - the almost derelict granary store attached to Eling Tide Mill. Around the same time the club shortened its name to Eling Sailing Club. Club members restored the granary store, including putting a roof back on, by 1st June 1945. Eling Tide Mill is Grade II* Listed - Historic England list entry 1179062 - but it is not clear from the listing if the granary store is included in that listing.
