superb traditional town pub with breathtaking green faience façade from Warwicks Brewery of Boroughbridge. In the 19th Century the pub doubled as the magistrates' court! It was the scene of public floggings in the 1800s, too. Hours shown are those permitted by licence. Grade II Listed see http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-445997-the-elephant-and-castle-public-house

This pub seemed to be going through a period of irregular opening in the Summer of 2019 but cask ale appeared to have been restored in October.
