The Dumb Post is a free house in an elevated position between Chippenham and Calne with a very large terrace looking south over the Bowood Estate and beyond. Plenty of tables for customers to eat dishes from the award-winning traditional pub and gastropub menus. It is believed the inn got its name from the custom of postmen on carrier wagons pinning letters on a post outside the inn for the local people, in the days before the Royal Mail.
