Large stone built pub on the back road, (100m from the main road). Uncomplicated interior with pool table at one end. Had a spell not offering real ale but since May 2021 has been serving Kibble brewery beers which are brewed in a former stable block in the car park. The owner/brewer is a former miner which explains the Kibble name. Beers are often named after coal seams. A kibble is a big bucket used in pit shafts and the owner reckoned the mash tun (which came from the now-closed Hamelsworde brewery) looks like one. The pubs offers three permanent beers along with seasonal brews usually always one dark beer. Summer Pub of the Season Award from Barnsley CAMRA for 2017.
