Occupying a prominent position on a roundabout on the A453, at the edge of Clifton, the brick and tiled building is open plan inside with an L-shaped layout around a central serving bar. Carpeted floor and comfortable furnishings. Speciality Chinese food on Friday 6.00-9.30 eat in or take away

Historic Interest

The Crusader was opened in mid-October 1984 by Hardys & Hansons. The public house is large, low and barn-like, with Saracen-style wallpaper and stained glass windows - it is named after Sir Gervase, a local knight who fell in the Third Crusade. The Nottingham Trader dated 17th October 1984 described the Chesterfield settees in the lounge as "quite an innovation". The public bar had space for pool and darts. The Notts & District Drinker (Vol. 2; No. 2) added that "pine woodwork is much in evidence throughout" (Elain Harwood / Historic England).
