A characterful 17th-century Grade II-listed, timber-framed former coaching inn. It has a welcoming bar area on entrance from the rear courtyard, flanked by two dining areas each side. There is a refurbished pleasant courtyard and garden to the rear.
Alcoholic drinks served are from 11am. The pub serves three regular Hook Norton ales and an occasional additional varying ale, also from Hook Norton. The food menu comprises a classic pub menu.
The Crown reopened on 2 October 2020, as the Crown Inn at Benson, having been closed in Sept 2019 after being purchased by Hook Norton from Greene King, to become Hook Norton's most southerly pub. There was a major refurbishment to include accommodation (six en-suite bedrooms). There was a further temporary closure for more refurbishment from 2 January 2023 to 2 February 2023.
