A vibrant town centre pub, dating from the late 17th century and grade 2 listed. There is a large main room, a snug bar (quiet) to the rear and a separate games room. Two rotating changing cask ales are offered in the snug. Meals are not currently offered but bar snacks are available. Accommodation is available on a room only basis. Pub teams participate in local darts, dominos and pool leagues. To the rear is a smoking area in the beer yard.
