Cocktail bar.
Cato is in the northern Covent Garden area, on the corner of Mercer St. and Shelton St. It's named after Cato Alexander, a freed slave who ran a famous tavern just north of New York city in the early 1800s; cocktail historians consider him to be America's first celebrity bartender.
The venue comprises a 2,200 square-foot, 100-cover space spread across two floors. The ground floor “House of Julep” offer juleps, cocktails on tap and beer. “Lower Cato” features a smaller cocktail menu made exclusively with British spirits and produce. There is a food menu of small dishes.
