Mainly Cumbrian ales are served although some from much further afield. Upper floors are of high standard and reserved for functions and other pre-booked special occasions. Restoration
This iconic pub won a CAMRA design award in 2009 for refurbishment, reflecting an impressive rebuilding. Work to convert a dilapidated shell started in 2007, preserving parts of a facade dating to C17 and older foundations of what was probably a merchant's house originally. Historic features have been conserved in several rooms over three floors. The building is Grade II-listed. There is a courtyard garden.
