Since taking over in 1997 the present owners have made this probably the most popular pub in the vicinity. The winning formula includes three regular real ales plus one changing pump, a superbly stocked bar, friendly efficient staff, no television and meticulous attention to detail. With a golf course and country park within two miles and plenty of other outdoor activities available locally, being on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it attracts visitors from far outside the North Cumbria area.

Front entrance has a very small step leading into a vestibule area. The bar, restaurant and most seating areas are on the same level. The is one step to the rear seating area. Toilets are on the same level as the bar but there is no separate disabled access toilet.
