Just re-opened as a community pub and cafe from Easter 2026.
This lovely old pub in the quiet village of Padbury has a very modern feel while retaining much of the old building's character and features. Unpretentious, white-painted exterior offers a warm welcome inside. The new pub sign features a modern copy of the 19th century original Blackbird sign.
The bar is now centrally located between the two rooms and has three handpumps with one regular and one guest, plus a keg beer from the Salt brewery. It has comfortable seating, with tables, chairs and benches.
No food is currently served, although the pub opens as a cafe most mornings (9-12 noon) selling cakes and coffee, etc and a fish & chip van calls on Saturday.
Current opening times might change as the community group gets to grip with actual demands, so check their Facebook page.
The car parking is limited, but there is some parking on the street.
Community Run
When the pub was closed and threatened with being sold in in 2020, the Padbury Community Hub Limited (a Community Benefit Society) had active plans to purchase the pub, but the pub was sold and reopened. The pub closed again in Oct 2025, and the Padbury Community Hub was reactivated and have the following plan:
This Pub serves 1 changing beer and 1 regular beer.
Cask Ale
