A charming Arts & Crafts style building in an elevated setting overlooking Happy Valley. The Beacon is very much focused on being a wedding venue, but drinkers are welcome in the pleasant Garden Bar, which has an outside terrace with stunning views. Snacks and light lunches are available and there is a restaurant on the floor above the bar which offers more formal dining. The premises might be closed for informal visitors at the weekend so check the website.

There is no cask ale but the bar does serve two key keg beers.
