Situated just off the town's main square, this popular free house specialises in its variety of ales and ciders from Shropshire and around the UK. 6 ales and 7 Ciders/Perries can be available at any one time. Also a good range of draft and bottled continental beers is stocked. Whilst the Benbow's main bar is basically a comfortable single L-shaped area, there is a small separate room to the rear which can be hired for functions Children are not permitted in the pub or garden. The guest beers are often from a fairly local brewery, but can be from further afield.
Note that dogs are allowed in the garden, but not in the pub itself.
Historic Interest
Grade II listed building, first recorded in 1835 as Talbot Tap. Renamed circa 1860 to the Admiral Benbow after the 17th century admiral who attained both fame and public notoriety, and who was born in Shrewsbury.
