This is a club, which means that the bar may be only open to members.

The first Sharpness Hotel developed from premises established in 1871 to serve navvies building the new dock. It became known as the Shanty or Shant (a common name for a beer house for navvies). In 1879 it was taken over by the Cheltenham Original Brewery Company. It is now the Sharpness Sports and Social Club, which, whilst being a membership club, welcomes all visitors. There is a basic camping ground adjacent to the Club.
