Historic Interest

Darlington quoits club is the oldest in the world, was founded 19/9/1846. The land on Raby Terrace was purchased in 1896 for £100, the club was built in 1898 by Mr. G Marshall Jr at a cost of £92 including ten earthenware spittoons, a pack of playing cards and a barrel of whisky, the club house was formally opened on December 8th 1898.
