Station Road, Watford, WD17 1ET (View on Google Map)

Reopened at the beginning of February 2019 as an O'Neills. 3 handpumps, but currently (July 2022) only one in use, the décor has been stripped back to the brickwork with various advertising material, particularly for Guinness and Meantime, adorning the place.

Large pub located right next to Watford Junction and the adjacent bus station. Convenient for train travellers, post-work groups and those on business looking for pub grub and a pint. The pub has a live music room.

Historic Interest

The upstairs rooms were used as Benskin's Brewery offices in the 1980s after the resurrection of the brand name. A Firkin brewery operated at the back left of the ground floor.

Explore the local area

Curated guides are specially put together for your enjoyment! These trips are crafted by specialists along with dedicated volunteers with local knowledge.

The Charter Market Quarter

15 minutes 6 curated stops

The Charter Market Quarter has many historical links. One of the only free-standing medieval civic clock towers, the site of the First Battle of St. Albans in 1455, during the Wars of the Roses. Allegedly the Boot Inn played host to soldiers fighting in the battle. There used to be 23 pubs around the Market area!

St Peter’s Quarter

25 minutes 5 curated stops

The northern end of the Market is dominated by St. Peter’s church, one of the three churches originally built by the Saxon’s on the main pilgrim routes into St. Albans. Soak up the history and architecture of the area, as well as music history!

Medieval St. Albans East

15 minutes 6 curated stops

This area is packed with history and interesting pubs, some open, and some no longer with us.
