A pleasant corner pub, popular with local residents. The bar is decorated with framed sheet music, vintage advertising posters and beer and drinks memorabilia. The pub regularly hosts live music and street food vendors. There is a large garden that is popular in good weather and a patio with a covered section for outside drinking. Children are welcome until 8pm.

The Charter Market Quarter has many historical links. One of the only free-standing medieval civic clock towers, the site of the First Battle of St. Albans in 1455, during the Wars of the Roses. Allegedly the Boot Inn played host to soldiers fighting in the battle. There used to be 23 pubs around the Market area!
