Single room largely food-led establishment with a nautical flavour, sun-trap conservatory and a fine collection of toby jugs. Handy for the Metro Centre and other food outlets plus there are a couple of budget hotels very close nearby; a good source of custom. 150 years ago the pub's landlord was the legendary Tyneside international professional rower and boat building innovator Harry Clasper a sporting super star of his era and more famous than Paul Gascoigne.
