Close to the historic Theatre Royal and busy shopping areas, it is nice to see this pub, formerly The Adelphi, adding itself to the city-centre cask ale scene. Beers are often from local brewers Hadrian Border, Allendale and others, with guests from all over the country. A recent refurbishment has added four more handpumps.
