Named after an old steamship, The Vigilant is an imposing red brick pub, adorned with many hanging baskets , in Harton, South Shields. On entering there is a large bar and there is a smaller bar area to the rear. Monday is Quiz night from 8pm. Buskers night is on Tuesday, also at 8pm and on Thursdays at 7pm there is a music themed quiz with bingo. Live music can be found every Friday Saturday and Sunday in either the afternoon or evening or both. Please see social media for full details. Frequent buses pass the door , for South Shields or Sunderland. Small car park to the rear ( not the pubs) .

Reopened after a brief closure and under new management.
