Family run country pub, dating back to 1932, in a peaceful rural setting, a good sized garden. Inside the walls and ceilings are festooned with china plates and jugs. Darts played here. The pub is named after the Baptist preacher and author of The Pilgrim's Progress.There's good competitively priced menu with home made meals on the specials board. Gluten free menu available. Pub welcomes walkers. Pub is dog friendly. Three to four Real Ales from 3 Brewers

The Charter Market Quarter has many historical links. One of the only free-standing medieval civic clock towers, the site of the First Battle of St. Albans in 1455, during the Wars of the Roses. Allegedly the Boot Inn played host to soldiers fighting in the battle. There used to be 23 pubs around the Market area!
