Pub facing the Market Square offering three ales kept in very good condition, and meals that are sourced from the adjacent Nole pizza house. Customers are of all ages who come in for conversation, with only light background music that adds to the friendly atmosphere. There is also an entrance from Butcher Row, and more seating can be found upstairs. Tables are set out in the square all year, which makes for a pleasant scene. There is level access into the pub from the square. Historic Interest: The pub dates from 1904 as a public house and was bought by nearby Gibbs Mew Brewery in 1929. The brewery closed in 1997 when it became a pubco and was later acquired by Enterprise, later Stonegate. The pub was taken over by Chickpea Group in 2024, who also run the adjacent Nole pizza shop.
