a popular pub and draws its custom from both locals and visitors alike. The large, single bar room is divided into distinct areas and features much dark wood. It is very close to the tourist attractions within the Historic Dockyard, as well as Gunwharf Quays. Well-priced food is served all day. The left hand part of the pub now sports its former name, the King & Queen, but it is not a separate pub. The TV screens also show train arrival & departure times for Portsmouth Harbour station.

Historic Interest

Originally 3 pubs, the London Tavern, the King & Queen and the Ship Anson. The London tavern was destroyed during a bombing raid in WWII and its site now forms the beer garden. In 1985, the then owners, Whitbread, converted the 2 remaining pubs and they became the Ship Anson.
