Set high on Broadhalfpenny Down, this pub is famous as the cradle of cricket. Matches between Hambledon and England were once held on the adjacent ground. The parish boundary between Hambledon and Clanfield is marked on the bar floor, an important feature when the parishes used to have different opening hours.
