A thatched, grade 2 listed country pub, overlooking the river Orwell, nestled next to the church in Levington. Lots of outside space, much of which offers additional seating and a private play-area plus well kept gardens. Inside are some cosy bar areas and a modern high ceiling main dining area to rear.

Part of the locally based Deben Inns family group of pub restaurants.

Historic Interest

The 1904 Woodbridge licensing records show that the Ship's licence was issued in 1853. Whether this was when it was first licensed or when it got a full (ie not just beer) licence isn't clear, though the latter seems more probable. Severe fire in about 2002 In March 2009 three popular riverside pubs on the Orwell & Deben were bought by Suffolk brewer Adnams from national pub operator Punch Taverns. The Butt & Oyster at Pin Mill & the Ship & Levington, both a short distance outside Ipswich, & the Maybush at Waldringfield, near Woodbridge. The building probably dates back to the 14th century.
