A traditional drinking pub. Darts, crib and petanque are played. There's a quarry tiled "L" shaped main bar which leads to a quiet covered patio area. Local sketches are framed and displayed on the walls. An unspoilt snug bar was closed for many years. The pub is located away from main village settlement in a small hamlet close to a popular caravan & camping site. The nickname, "Dicky" is a Suffolk dialect word for a Donkey. A bar snacks menu is available, and a food truck offering pizza is at the pub every other Saturday from 3pm-8pm.

Historic Interest

1881 census records a Kicking Donkey Beer House, which probably refers to this pub. In Sep/Oct 1982 edition of Last Orders*** it was reported that Frank & Nancy McQuade had retired from the Royal Oak in May & Pat & Colin Ruffle had replaced them.
