Large stone pub, formerly an 18th Century coaching inn, in a picturesque two-pub village. Very much food oriented so most furniture is chairs and tables some of which is set for dining. There is a smaller dining room to one side, the larger room is L-shaped and contains the bar counter with large casks on a stillage above it. Some nice exposed stone work and old beams show that this is an old building, with stone flags round the bar area and terracotta tiling through the main room. High-backed chairs sit around a low table upon a large rug warmed by an old log burner. Outside there is a pleasant gravelled seating area with pub benches in what would have been the stable yard. Three changing local ales are served, though this may be reduced to two in the winter months. Dog, cyclist and muddy boot friendly.
