This Pub is Permanently Closed

Originally known as The Boatman's Arms, this Matthew Brown pub was built in 1900. The name was changed to Fighting Cock in 1991 - although it is reported that it carried the name Dangerous Sportsman for a short time. The pub closed in 2004 and was demolished in 2006 to make way for flats - yet another example of a Preston pub making way for student accommodation.

Both pictures are by Jim Holderness and show the changes to the signage that came with the change of name. Interestingly the earlier photo in Matthew Brown livery does not include the lamps on either side of the door that are in the later image.
