Built in 1649 and set in the delightful Shibden valley, this pub was originally the miller's house for the manorial corn mill, which stood here in 1308, but was burnt down in 1859. The miilpond, filled in when the pub opened in 1890, is now the car park. Now sympathetically renovated, this hostelry retains its original charm, with a cosy and friendly bar, as well as an intimate and candle-lit restaurant, which is popular for encounters of the romantic kind. Beneath the recently-revealed oak beams and rafters, guests can enjoy a range of over eighty wines and a good selection of whiskies alongside the high quality food.
