Close by the moors, two miles from Stoodley Pike and the Pennine Way, this isolated but welcoming pub is ideal for walkers. Built as a farmstead on a pack horse route and a popular museum in the 1850s, it became a pub later in 19th century and was extended in the 1930s to create a shop and cafe. The front bar, partly divided by an isolated stone fireplace, has traditional stone walls, some of which are exposed, and numerous brasses. The large dining area has spectacular views of the upper Calder valley, whilst the Pike can be seen from the seats outside.
