Station Hotel, Gravesend

The Station Hotel began trading in 1853, shortly after the opening of the adjacent Gravesend Central railway station. The name, however, was adopted only in 1910: the pub having previously been known as The Bricklayers' Arms.

The pub was part of the local Russell's brewery tied estate in the early 20th century, passing to Truman's when the Russell family sold up in 1930. It enjoyed relative stability for a lengthy period, but in an attempt to revive its fortunes, the name was changed in around 2004 to Bar 24. A further 'trendification' came in 2013 when it became the Bridge Bar & Club and started charging for admission. But the writing was on the wall - possibly quite literally - and the doors were closed for good the following year. The building is unused as of 2020 - perhaps there is a rescuer out there somewhere...
