Former wool merchant's house at the very centre of this pretty village. A substantial, thatched 16th century building that features heavily carved timbers in the bar. The six rooms & two bars offer a great variety. The use of open stud-work allows some rooms to be light & airy, while huge fireplaces & dark timbers create a cosy atmosphere. Pub games played. No Food.

Historic Interest

Grade II Listed. A report in the Bury & Norfolk Post & Suffolk Herald** on 19 Jun in 1883 states that : "Joseph CARPENTER of the Boar Inn & Jacob CASH of the Six Bells Inn, Walsham Le Willows were both granted extensions for the Foresters Fete 2nd July, till 12 o'clock." Listed in Church Street (or High Street) in 1891. Also listed as an old established commercial inn & posting house (with good stabling) in 1900 & 1912. In Nov/Dec 1981 edition of Last Orders*** it was reported that Gordon & Pat were now at the Six Bells (from Cumbria) which was their first pub. Photographs of this pub and more historical information about it can be found at suffolk.camra.org.uk/pub/987
