The interior was remodelled during the early days of Greenalls' ownership. It mainly consists of a large public bar, on several levels, with a pool room annex to the rear which has one wall completely clad with wooden Shipstone’s beer crates. Out the back is an enclosed garden with picnic tables and two timber summer houses. Food may be available, including breakfasts and Sunday lunches: please enquire with the pub.

Historic Interest

The Railway Hotel was erected between 1871 and 1881, alongside a terrace of railway workers cottages which together with the pub now constitute The Midland Cottages Conservation Area. The former Wigston Magna railway station (Midland Railway) across the road closed in 1968. In the 19th century, the hotel was owned by the short-lived Gresley Brewery Ltd, Castle Gresley, Derbyshire. In the 1920s this establishment ceased to be a hotel and became a public house and eventually Shipstone's Brewery became the owners. When Greenalls bought them out in 1980, they renamed the pub The 1852 Brewery Company in deference to the date Shipstone's Brewery first opened.
