Please note that the pub is having a soft opening from 3rd June 2026 and the opening hours shown are for this. More details will be added when it becomes clear.

Originally built in the 1780's, during the canal age, for the tunnel diggers. Located beside the southern entrance to the old Thames-Severn canal tunnel. It is difficult to find but well worth it: it lies down an unmetalled track off the Coates to Tarlton road but a new sign lets you know. Popular pub with character. The 3-roomed log fire heated pub is festooned with old advertising signs, which include long defunct beers, such a the superbly etched window advertising "Bowly's Entire". Live music on some summer evenings. Function venue in "The Barn".
