A 19th Century country pub on the Devon side of the Somerset border, close to the Grand Western Canal, in an area that is popular with walkers. The extensive bar area has an unusual and attractive layout, making good use of the open fire and a large cylindrical log-burning stove. There is an unusual rack of 'cash register' hand pulls mounted on the back wall. of the bar. Varied home-cooked food in the evening, with a carvery on Sundays. There is a darts and games area. An attractive enclosed walled garden is popular in summer.. Large car park at the front but wheelchair access is best around the back, from the lane.

The pub closed in May 2021. The pub was registered as an Asset of Community Value in Aug 2021. A community group launched a community share scheme, but fell short of raising the required funds to complete a purchase. In Sep 2024 new tenants took over running the pub (see article for more details
