Llanbrynmair, SY19 7AA (View on Google Map)

This Grade II listed inn is situated in the middle of the village which is in the largest parish in Montgomeryshire. With parts dating back to 1512 (possibly earlier) it is named after Sir Watcyn Williams-Wynn who was part of a landowning family from Denbighshire. At one time the Wynnstay estates straddled at least five Welsh counties and even into Shropshire. There are scythes which were built into the chimney to prevent "looting and marauding" in ancient times!!

There are separate bar and restaurant areas with beams throughout. Vegetarians and vegans are well catered for with a separate menu available. The pub sadly stopped selling real ale in 2018 with the removal of the handpumps due to lack of demand although bottled ale is available.

The pub is 5 minutes from Glyndwr's Way and the cheap rooms are popular with walkers.

Historic Interest

Built 1780, remodelled & enlarged 1821. Grade II Listed. Historic Wales list reference 7598
