The L-shaped bar has white-washed walls, with a bay window overlooking the car park. The lounge has mainly red décor, and is wallpapered.

Historic Interest

Built in the early 1800s, possibly earlier, the pub was originally the Limekiln, but took the name Coopers Arms in 1876. In 2012, the name of the pub was officially changed to the Top House.

The name Coopers Arms was almost certainly in honour of Samuel Thomas Cooper (1831-1871), a steel founder and local benefactor who lived at Bulwell Hall [Minutes of the Proceedings of the Institute of Civil Engineers v.33 1872]. The location of Coroner's inquests for 3 miners from the nearby Bulwell Colliery; William Walters who was hit by a chain and fell down the shaft (1869), Charles Martin (1876) and John Greensmith (1880) who were both killed by roof falls [www.healeyhero.co.uk].
