Old High Street coaching inn dating from the eighteenth century that has been pleasantly refurbished. The interior is mainly open plan which has been sympathetically divided into more intimate snug sections with a real fire. A large courtyard area is found through the old arched entrance with an enclosed garden at the rear. Local and national ales are available. .

Famed for links with Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien, it has a map of Middle-earth adorning the walls.
