This pub has played its part in the history of Tredegar and has been a focal point for Chartist meetings, army recruitment, and announcements of election results. A once thriving pub, a real ale beacon in the middle of town, it stands close to the famous Tredegar Clock. It closed for a long period before re-emerging as a pub once more. It now also offers food and accommodation (single occupancy and online booking available). Wednesday (9pm) is quiz night. The downstairs areas are arranged around a central bar while TVs are placed in strategic places for those who enjoy watching sport. The menu covers a wide range of dishes with breakfasts, starters, mains, meals to share, children's choices, curries and pizzas, the latter also to take-away.
