Crown Inn, Raglan

A large corner local in the centre of town serving breakfasts from 10 am. The porched entrance leads into a games room on the left, while more immediately to the front is the bar which extends around to the right past a fireplace with a warming log fire which is a popular spot to get warm on colder days. Dotted around the walls are pictures of Raglan and teams or individuals with local connections. Above the bar and extending over the public area is a ledge with an assortment of trophies. The pub has a cosy well lived-in feel in which to sup whichever of the listed ales is available as they alternate. Back in 1856 a fight is reputed to have started started here which escalated through the entire village involving locals and 'Navies' who were building the local railway. The riot was eventually quelled by the local police. During WW2 it was commandeered by the Royal Veterinary Corps.
