Hornblower, Newport

A one-time popular biker's pub, but variously open and closed in recent years, it’s now open once more and selling competitively priced real ale. It’s picking up the threads of its past to recreate the pulsating atmosphere of a rock music lovers haunt. The dark decor can give a fairly gloomy ambience but this is how the 'blower' has been for years and how its regular clientele like it. The juke box still blares forth. There is quite a lot of attractive Jack Daniels memorabilia on the walls along with photos of past parties and a framed description of the pub's name. A higher level has a sofa and a couple of games machines. This is a basic boozer in the town centre and can be reached without climbing any hills!

Plans for demolition as part of a re-development of this and adjoining premises are close to agreement as of 6 June 2016.
