Located close to the River Trent and Sawley Marina, this pub dates back to the 18th century. It is a two-roomed premises served from a central bar, with both rooms warmed by real fires in the colder months. There is usually background music.

Community events include a monthly farmers market and a summer beer festival.

Outside is a large, attractive beer garden; occasional outdoor live music events are held there during the summer. The wood-fired pizza oven housed in the beer garden is in operation most Fridays and weekends from May to October.

There is a loyalty card in operation on certain days.

Long Eaton railway station is 1 mile away and the pub has it's own car park.

There are no steps at the front entrance and side door from the carpark. There are steps at the back door which leads into the garden but no handrail. There are no steps inside the pub. There is one step to get into the new restaurant inside the old brewery building but the shutter doors can be raised if access is required by wheelchair. There is currently no disabled toilet.
