This site opened in 1995 as Cantaloupe, one of the first bars in the trendification of Shoreditch. Relaunched in 2013 as the Merchants Tavern. Converted warehouse type building typical of the area, quite attractive exterior. The interior is plushy decorated, with a bar at the front and more formal dining behind. Brown leather seating. No real ale but there are three draught beers, from Camden and Williams Bros. Superior type of menu. Became Apothecary May 2021. This closed June 2024. Reopened March 2025 as a Cafe, Bar & restaurant, part of a small chain. The food is Indian and 3 draft beers - two from Harbour Brewery- and bottles.
