Attractive, comfortable pub set in an historic village now absorbed by the city

The bar is at the front and furnished with tables and high stools at a high table. Towards the rear is a dining area furnished with booths and tables. In addition a conservatory area has windows that overlook the garden and Colinton Dell.

Three course meals or bar bites are freshly prepared and served all day with roast dinners on a Sunday.

The changing real ales are usually a session ale and one at 4.5 to 5% ABV. The SIBA sourced real ales tend to be from a 50 mile radius with Rate My Beer being used to help decide the choice.

Previously the pub has been known as the Spylaw Tavern, Royal Scot and Colinton Dell Railway Inn. The railway connection explains the 1874 logo as that is when the Colinton Railway Station opened (closed in 1967).

The emphasis is often towards food service throughout. At busy times all tables may be reserved or occupied for eating with just 6 stools available near the bar for drinkers.
