Reverted to the Castle Vaults in 2018 after a period as the Vaults, this pub is abuts the walls of Shrewsbury Castle. It attracts a varied clientele and has a raucous, but friendly atmosphere. It is basically one room, but divides into various nooks and crannies on different levels. Sport is shown on several large TVs. DJs & live music feature on some Friday & Saturday nights, There is a rear courtyard used as a smoking area and a roof garden with views of the castle. Accommodation is offered in nine rooms. Children are allowed until 8pm. Neither the pub nor the rooms are suitable for wheelchair users.

The real ales are always from local breweries and are reasonably priced.
