The Kangaroo was first licensed in 1840 and that name has remained with it ever since. There is no great certainty about its origins, but there is a theory that it refers to the vessel SS Kangaroo. What is more certain is that this is very much a pub for the village; there's all sorts of activities going on. This includes catering for the needs of real ale enthusiasts with the pub's annual beer festival on the August Bank Holiday, also the annual Clun Valley Beer Festival, held in October.

It's a spacious, comfortable and cosy place inside. A couple of bars, a snug and a dining room, and welcoming log burners. The snug may attract attention. The small burner is, apparently, of a French design. And the model in a glass case is a working steam locomotive, representing the Ivatt designed LMS locomotive of the late 40's and early 50's. For some reason they had the nickname of Mickey Mouse. The retreat into former times can be continued by playing one of the traditional board games that are available in this room. And to round it all off, there's a piano to play!

Note that although the pub does have 2 bus routes that pass nearby, they both only have one journey in each direction, and one of them is only every other Tuesday!
