Large, multi-roomed community-focussed village pub in centre of village; impressively refurbished inside and out under a new operator since October 2024.
The pub's name reverted to the White Hart and the pub signage was updated in January 2025. A large pub with two interlinked rooms and a separate restaurant. A significant refurbishment has seen a complete redecoration, the flooring renewed and all new furniture installed, to give a light and airy, yet welcoming and comfortable feel. The garden area to the rear has been extensively re-laid to provide a large paved courtyard and an enclosed grassed garden area. The food menu looks to be a good value, but high-end pub fare type menu, featuring many pub classics. The new tenant's aim is to make the pub a community hub which caters for the tastes and needs of both Harwell village and the surrounding area; looking to host events for local community groups.
The ales are sourced both locally and from the Greene King list, but he pub also has the opportunity to source two beers from further afield via SIBA brewers list (the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates). The aim is to feature one or two paler ales and one or two darker ales, the latter especially during the winter.
The owners of the company operating the White Hart have a lot of experience in the local hospitality trade, also running the Fleur-de-Lys, East Hagbourne and the Mulberry, Didcot. Prior to taking over the White Hart, the licensee was a director and brewer at LoveBeer Brewery in nearby Milton, who provide the house beer.
