This historic, 300 year old, 28 bedroom coaching inn featured in Thomas Hardy's Mayor of Casterbridge and was bought by Stay Original Company in 2015 who spent over four years sympathetically refurbishing the building and re-opening in 2020. A good selection of gin and rum are available. A patio is at the rear for a relaxing pint. The main menu is served all day both in the bar and restaurant. The Casterbridge Room is available for local events. Past distinguished guests have included Queen Victoria, King George VI, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. NOTE - Payment by card only.
